Alan Thornhill - The Portrait Head Class

The course is grounded in the use of perception rather than knowledge.

In this context panic caused by competitiveness and self-judgement are recognised as the arch enemy of seeing.

Pre-conception in the shape of our notions about the familiar make us disbelieving of what we actually do see and prevents us from stating it in the material. Therefore enjoyment, innocence, wonder and credulity are fostered as leading to objectivity. A firm distinction is made between the deadliness of copying and the exploratory process of building a formal equivalent.
